Opera Gallery Paris16 October - 18 November 2026In the early 1980s, the encounter between Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring stands as one of the most remarkable episodes in the history of late 20th-century art. New York in the 1980s was a city of unprecedented creative energy, where underground culture, hip-hop and graffiti transformed the contours of contemporary art. Galleries, streets, clubs and subway stations became spaces for artistic expression. At the centre of this vibrant scene, Warhol, Haring and Basquiat crossed paths, united by a shared desire to challenge the boundaries between fine art and popular culture, painting and performance, the studio and the street. This proximity is embedded in their works themselves—in the ways they looked at their time and engaged with the signs, images, and languages of contemporary culture. |
Andy Warhol: The CatalystAt the centre of this constellation stands Andy Warhol, who profoundly transformed the way art was seen and made from the 1960s onwards. By incorporating advertising, consumer goods, celebrities and symbols of popular culture into his work, Warhol shattered the hierarchies between art and commerce, between creation and the culture industry. The legendary Factory became the natural extension of this revolution: a laboratory open to experimentation, to the energy of the street and radical freedom, where artists, musicians, celebrities and ordinary people mingled. |

Chu Teh-Chun's work returns to its roots: a major retrospective featuring over 120 works will be held from 19 October at the China Academy of Art Museum in Hangzhou, the very institution where the artist began his artistic training at the age of fifteen. A pioneering institution in China at the time, which also taught oil on canvas, this school served to educate a whole new generation of Chinese artists: Zao Wou-Ki, Wu Guanzhong and, of course, Chu Teh-Chun. This return to his roots takes on a deeply symbolic significance: it establishes a dialogue between the early years of his training and the work of an artist who, over the course of an international career, has become one of the leading figures of 20th-century abstraction. We invite you to also discover his works at the gallery. |

Pieter Obels Feng Xiao-Min Opera Gallery London 04 June - 05 July 2026 This exhibition brings together Dutch sculptor Pieter Obels and French-Chinese artist Feng Xiao-Min for their first time in London with Opera Gallery. Presented on the occasion of London Gallery Weekend, the show places these two contemporary artists in dialogue, marking Feng Xiao-Min’s first exhibition in the UK and Pieter Obels’ return to London after 10 years. It reveals the core concerns of their respective practices—meditative approaches that embrace the making process and its unexpected turns—despite their distinct cultural and geographic backgrounds. Pieter Obels: calm and continuity forged into metal Pieter Obels’ work is defined by his use of Corten steel. While metal often suggests weight and rigidity, his sculptures possess an unexpected organic quality. Drawing inspiration from the growth patterns of plants, Obels works in close dialogue with his material, allowing its inherent properties to guide the process. This approach lends his practice a meditative dimension, transforming the forge—typically associated with intensity and force—into a site of quiet emergence. The resulting forms, characterised by their rounded openness, are conceived to inhabit and respond to their surroundings, contributing a sense of calm and continuity while also embracing how the environment affects the material, for instance the patina that develops on the steel when exhibited outside. |
