Brody Condon Line-Up (After Trisha)
8 hour durational performance @ LACMA
April 28, 2011 from noon to 8 pm free and open to the public

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) presents a new performance by Brody Condon, with costume design by Rodarte. Line-Up (After Trisha) is an 8-hour durational performance with 18 performers, 9 poles, and a set of rules defined by the artist. It will take place in the BP Grand Entrance of LACMA on April 28th from noon to 8pm and is free and open to the public.

In Line-Up (After Trisha), Condon explores further the choreographer Trisha Brown's ability to construct complex movement from a basic, almost algorithmic, set of initial parameters, applying what he terms "software modification logic," or a set of rules to create a framework for the performers' movements.

Condon's instructions to the dancers include three basic rules: (1) Each 10' pole must stay connected at all times. (2) The movers should moveslowly and constantly in a circle, (3) Any viewers are to be regarded as ghosts on another plane of existence; they can be seen but not touched or spoken to. The visual style of this performance is further defined by Renzo Piano's architecture which creates a grid for the performers' movements, and Rodarte's costume design for each performer.
